As far as manicures go, the gel manicure is about as good as it gets. But, it’s a bit pricey. I splurge on occasion when I need a really long wear out of my manicure, but not always.
So I’ve been trying out ways to extend that manicure, and I’ve figured out a few things that dramatically increase the wear.
This only works with the French manicure look, but that’s the primary option for me because it’s not as easy to tell when the nail grows out. So here’s what I do.
At about the two week mark I notice the gel is beginning to detach from my cuticle area. So I use a buffer right up against my cuticle to smooth and buff the gel flat to my nail bed.
After washing my hands free of the nail dust I then paint a clear coat of polish over the entire nail. That’s it, and my nails look great for three to four weeks on the same manicure.
I never have problems with chipped ends, but if you do here’s my favorite French manicure touch up pen by Sally Hansen. It’s the simplest. longest lasting one I’ve found.
Last suggestion. I notice if I apply lotion each night before I go to bed, my manicure last longer. Not sure why, but I’m going with it.
I’m headed home from a work trip to Russia with my manicure still going strong. I hope you are having a great weekend and that you’ll give my tricks a try.
My best to you.
