Back to School Essentials: Kindergarten Here We Come!

Well, here we are.  The first day of kindergarten for these two ladies.  They marched straight into their classrooms (separate classrooms, that is) with all the confidence in the world.  I’m so proud of them, and also really glad that first day was a huge success.

We love our new school, and the teachers are already such blessings for our family.  We feel like we’ve hit the jackpot.

So, if you are still searching for the back to school essentials, let me help you out with a couple of items we’ve tested.  These will go down as some of my best ‘finds’ this year.  If they can pass the test of these 6 year olds, trust me, they are good.

The backpack of all backpacks!  The Kanken Mini.  It’s the perfect size for kindergarten through second grade.  Love them.  And thanks to our friend Russell for sending them our way.

And this lunchbox has saved our lives.  The Bentgo.  We’ve put everything you can imagine into those little compartments…and no leaks.  The individual compartment seals keep everything in.  Seriously, no leaks.  I also ordered the extra inserts so we can prepare two rounds of lunches at a time.

And lastly, this terrific waterbottle from Thermos.  This bottle keeps the water cool all day with one ice cube.  The cube doesn’t even melt.  Not sure how it works, but we’re going with it.

To those sweet Moms and Dads of kindergartners – it’s going to be a terrific year!  We got this.

My best to you,

Let’s Flamingle to a 5th Birthday Swim

You are thinking, hmmm…didn’t the girls just turn 6…  Yep, that’s right, and I completely forgot to post pictures from their 5th birthday swim.  A friend of mine reminded me of this recently, and well…thanks Mandy for the reminder.

A lot of life has happened over the past 12 months, so we’ll just call this a catch up blog post 🙂  We just had a few girlfriends over to swim, but I can never resist a reason for cupcakes and a couple of decorations.

These sweet friends are keepers, and even though we’re going in lots of different directions for school soon, we love them so much.

Cute Mud Pie flamingo swimsuits make pool time fun!

All pink snacks and tacky plastic flamingos make the perfect, quick table setting and yard decor.

I made these flamingo embellishments with popsicle sticks, free printables, pink feathers, and hot glue.  So simple and saved a fortune by buying simple strawberry cupcakes.

Ribbon makes everything prettier.

And lastly a little pink welcome for our friends.  Pink boa wraps, with tulle along the edge, hot glued to round frames made the simplest DIY wreath.

The days can sometimes feel long, but the weeks and months are short.  They are growing up so quickly, but each season seems to get sweeter and sweeter.  Grateful for these precious gifts!

My best to you.
